Simple map interface for creating geo-border boxes?

Hoping someone can point me to an existing resource, so I don’t need to create it myself.

Basically, I need to get a series of lat / long coordinates, which are geo-bounding rectangles for Japan. The API for which the data is intended allows you to use several bounding blocks, so I want to create a series of smaller boxes that cover about 99.9% of the country.

All I have to do is click on the map to indicate the north-east and south-west corners of the box, but I could not find anything that does this.

The closest I found is http://paulisageek.com/hacku/examples/geoBoundingBoxTabs.html . However, it does not allow multiple bounding boxes, but, more importantly, does not provide calculated lat / lengths, as well as the ability to change fields.

Doesn't look so complicated with the new google maps api library of drawing tools

http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/overlays.html#drawing_tools

you get the coordinates in the callback event handlers.
