Is the SMTP virtual server deprecated in IIS 7?

It seems that in IIS 7 (7.5, Windows Server 2008 R2), the virtual SMTP server is a second-class citizen, only configured using the IIS 6.0 compatibility mode management tool. This arrangement makes me wonder if the SMTP virtual server is out of date, or else "exit on it."

That's for sure? Does SMTP virtual server come with IIS Phase Off? Is there a replacement in my way?

TL DR from here : Yes, everything has passed. You can install the IIS 6 SMTP server, but it sucks. It is much better to use something like hMailServer, which is free and works fine .
