Recording audio in an Android application as a service

Question

I am trying to create an application that will record audio during meetings, etc., and also allows the user to create annotations / comments during recording.

There are many tutorials on recording the main sound as an activity on the Internet, but I was wondering if it is possible to make the application record Audio as a service, which allows the user to do other things while recording, for example, by email, etc. .
