Invite Facebook users on first launch

I am considering developing an application that offers users to invite friends to participate in the first run using the "Request" dialog. (There will be a Skip button in the Request dialog box, in accordance with Facebook IV.4 policy.)

Looking through this forum, it looks like there was a β€œV.4 Developer Policy”, which at one time said the following: β€œYou should not offer users to send invitations, requests, generate notifications or use other Facebook communication channels immediately after the user allows access or return your application. "

I no longer see such a language in the policies available here: http://developers.facebook.com/policy/

Does this mean that it is now proposed to allow users to send invitations on first launch? Or am I just skipping some language in the new rules prohibiting it?

I believe this was deliberately removed, as this is clearly not in their updated developer policy. The only mention of the old politics that I can find is here . This post also gives good arguments in favor of the old politics:

When a user β€” the returner or new β€” visits your application, you must allow the user to interact with your expression before asking him / her to publish a thread story, send out Requests, or use any other communication channel. The intent behind this policy should provide users with the opportunity to meaningfully interact with the application before encountering a decision to chat with friends.

The advice remains valid even if the policy no longer applies - you must give the user the opportunity to use and find out about their application before they are asked to share it. However, if you are building a game, such as Words with Friends, where you need to play against one of your Facebook friends, I think it would be nice (almost necessary) to invite your friends right away, and that could be because Facebook removed it from their policy.

I think that everything will be all right with you if you ask the user to immediately send an invitation to friends, if it is not intended for distribution to other users, so that they can use your application and that you provide the possibility of a pass.

It’s also sad that it’s almost impossible to get a response from Facebook, as you saw on your forums.
