Can maven3 runtime execute maven2 compatible pom.xml files

Some of our new projects have been ported to maven3, and some of the old projects still use maven2 compatible pom.xml files.

Can maven3 runtime execute maven2 compatible pom.xml files?

maven 3 is mostly compatible with maven 2 configuration. But there are still some incompatibilities.

For a complete list, you should check out there are some problems with plugins (as Torsten suggested).

Usually yes, but it may depend on the version of the plugin you are using.

Please note that, for example, the maven site plugin is different for maven 2 and maven 3, or some maven-forcecer plugin options are no longer valid for maven 3. Perhaps others.

Yes it is. At first, you may be alarmed by the fact that he gives a bunch of warnings and sometimes refuses to build before you take care of the problems, but this is actually better for you, because (if you come across this), he just tells you what was still not relevant to your project.

In addition, the site plugin has been completely rewritten, and you need to use the version for Maven 3. (Check here )
