After exploring my options for video support in Java, I came across several times the Java Media components mentioned several times, and this article also hinted that they were hoping to include it in Java 7.
It initially looked great, so I decided to find it in Java 7 with the hope of enabling video support quite easily. It goes without saying that I could not find it, and after Google Googling went around all I can really find, these are half-baked links to the nondescript part of the thing from JavaFX.
So does anyone know what happened to him? Has it been removed along with many other features for Java 7 and dropped in Java 8? Or completely fallen? Or is it now simply integrated into JavaFX? The latter makes a lot of sense to me, but the latest version of JavaFX just claims to support FLV (at least for now), while the links I can find in the JMC seem to indicate that it supports a number of formats .
In short, does anyone know what is going on?
