Double.Parse fails at NaN

Question

In my Windows 3.5 SP1 form application, the following lines end with a format exception.

Double.Parse(double.NaN.ToString(CultureInfo.InvariantCulture),CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); Double.Parse(double.NaN.ToString()); 

What can be done here?

A format exception occurs only when you start the application from Visual Studio (2010) and turn on the Common Language Runtime Exception (Debug-> Exceptions ...) exception notification.

I think the exception is thrown (and caught) inside the .NET Framework itself. If you run the program outside of Visual Studio, you should not notice any problems.

I can reproduce this, but if I check "Include only my code (only managed)" in the "Debug" options for Visual Studio, I no longer see an exception.

This works great for me without any exceptions.

If you are telling the truth (this only happens when the Common Language Runtime Exception is turned on), then this is an internal exception that is thrown, then caught and handled within the framework of .Net, and therefore you should not worry too much about.

Note that when an exception occurs, the line is highlighted in green (not orange) to indicate that it is just an exception notification, not a debugger that stops when an exception is thrown.
