Eclipse Editor for Visual Studio 2008

Question

I used Eclipse for many years, and when I started using VS 2008, it is good enough, but misses a lot of what Eclipse has or does so easily.

To mention a few, if I move the cursor / cursor over the identifier, Eclipse selects all its occurrences (not by comparing strings, but by matching links) in this document, we can distinguish between a method and a variable in colors, move to the method above / below the current function with arrow combination Ctrl + Shift + Up/Down .

VS skips all these and more useful things. Therefore, it is simply interesting whether there is an Eclipse add-in for a free add-on for VS 2008. Metal Scroll only does half of 1 thing (link highlighting).

Are there any additional add-ons?

Edit: Not found. Looks like VS 2010 is the way to go, or maybe VS 2012!

You can find CodeRush and the DXCore ecosystem will be a very useful addition to Visual Studio.

Telerik produces a product called JustCode that provides some nice features like Eclipse. I especially like the blue / red / yellow rectangles that appear next to the scroll bars to indicate where the comments are (blue), warnings (yellow), and errors (red). It also places a red dot on the document tab in Visual Studiu when it edits and makes the entire selection of the field you are talking about - also highlights the brackets that you expect in a rich IDE.

Most of what he (simple-code) does interactively was reviewed in VS2010, but not all, and it is certainly much cheaper than updating VS2008 to 2010.

This is the closest thing you can get for free: Performance Power Tools . It has Ctrl+Click: Go to Definition and many others.

To distinguish between a variable and a method by color, you must configure it ( Tools > Options > Environment > Fonts and Colors , but this is a bit tedious).

I would suggest ReSharper for more advanced features, but it's not free.
