The Future of Java on Mac OS X

I basically develop in .NET from the year (even if I start coding in Java during my research), and I need to migrate the .NET application (more precisely, an agent running under the Windows Service that calls the web service to transfer information and files) on Mac OS X.

My first idea was to develop a Java version of the application. But I read some articles about the future of Java in Mac OS X, and I'm a little perplexed by this choice.

What do you think?

The future of Java on Mac is fine. Apple contributes its code to the OpenJDK project, which also started a project (starting with Java 7) for creating binaries for the Mac. So, in the near future, Mac users will be able to install the JRE and JDK in much the same way that Windows and Linux users do.

Do you know about the Mono project? This is an open source .NET environment that uses a cross platform.
