Book recommendations for Umbraco

I am seriously looking at adopting Umbraco to host several small portals websites. I played with Umbraco a while ago, but I would rather get a basic research prototype and work with as many instructions that I can get before going down and messing up my own encoding.

However, the problem is that I found very few correctly codified documentation for Umbraco and very few resources outside of my forums, etc. Are there any good books for Umbraco or any other comprehensive resources that I can preferably also use offline?

I believe that only one book is the Umbraco User Guide by Nick Wahlberg and Paul Sterling (published by Wrox). You can find it on Amazon. I looked through it and it is probably good for beginners and intermediate users and fills in a lot of gaps in the official documentation (which you fair note is not exhaustive). As with all books, it may be slightly behind the latest versions, but it seems pretty modern (like Umbraco 4.7).

Another good resource is the official Video Tutorials , which cover most of the main topics. Some of them are a little "lovers", but they do the job.

You will also find many good blogs and forum posts around, since regular Google is often your best friend. The Umbraco community is a friendly party, so don't be afraid to ask forum questions, etc.

There is a handy online book and a book in PDF format: " 24 days in Umbraco "
