Visual Studio 2010 is awfully slow on a huge C ++ project when an animated icon

VS 2010: What is the file symbol ++ in the status bar?

Every time I open the SVT Tortoise project (a lot of code) in Visual Studio 2010, it suddenly starts doing something that leads to the active functioning of my hard drive, and this leads to my computer (and VS) becoming too super lags. I noticed there is a "++" icon near the main window below, next to the row number and column number:

strange ++ icon

which is almost always animated when I see a slowdown.

What is this icon for? How to disable or simplify the work that slows down my computer?

  • Open the task manager (or better yet, Process Explorer).

  • In the View menu add columns to read I / O

  • Column Sort

  • Open the SVN Tortoise Project

  • See which process is changing the most

I saw both Intellisense and Tortoise SVN slow down, as commentators noted above.
