I have videos and images with a total size of about 500 MB. How can I manage IT?

I need to create one application that uses many videos and images. The total size of all videos and images used in the application is about 500 MB. The entire application depends on these videos and images.

I know that the Android market only supports max. 50 Mb. apk size. I have no idea how I can use videos and images in my application. If I put it in a drawable, the apk size will increase to 500 MB, and I know that it is impossible to install a 500k apk file on a mobile device.

If I put this video and images on the server, then each time it takes a lot of time to upload.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem: how can I manage this size of videos and images in my application.

The only way to solve this problem is to put the data on the server and upload it to the SD card after starting the application. Explain to the user that he must use the video to use the application, and do not forget to check which data connection your user uses. Then you can warn the user if she tries to download 500 MB via a mobile connection.

Starting 3/5/2012, the Android Market (also known as Google Play) supports the attachment of up to two "extension files" of up to 2 gigabytes each. Your APK should still be less than 50 MB, but the attached files may contain an additional 4 GB.

Are acceptable SD storage requirements between you and your users acceptable? Google resigns and allows to solve another "market"!

The announcement of this Google policy update appears here:

Ask the user on first run to download them and save to the SD card. Then it refers to them, because you know where you put them on the card.
