Which instance of Amazon EC2 should I use?

I want to configure a proxy (using Squid) that will take about 5,000 requests per day on an Amazon EC2 instance. Will there be a noticeable speed difference between micro vs small instance ?

Requests are for HTML, not any medium, such as images or videos.

The main problem at the microlevels is the spotty performance of the processor and disk I / O, but this amount of traffic is actually quite small, averaging 3 requests per minute. As a bonus, the micro-instance will qualify for Amazon's free tier . For optimal performance, make sure the machine is disconnected from unnecessary services.

I would advise you to start with a micro instance of ebs (not instance-store). Later you can convert micro to small.

In addition, if you plan to use a copy for a long time (more than one year), just consider buying a reserved copy (you will save money). But before you order a copy, you must know what is best for you, micro or small.

The microinstance should be able to handle such traffic until you have too many other things installed on it. Because you only pay for how long this instance works. I would take both a micro and a small instance, and then run some tests to find out if the microphone can handle your traffic, or if a small instance gives you better performance and costs extra money.
