Page rendering time measurement in IE 6 or FF 3.x

I have a page built using Dojo, and I need to determine how long the page takes to complete rendering in my browser (not from time to time to the first byte, or from time to time to the end).

In other words, the page (all bytes) can be loaded into my browser, but the components that I use (e.g. calendar, grid, etc.) can still be initialized and displayed after the page is fully loaded.

Are there any tools that would allow me to measure when the page and all its components are fully displayed, reliably?

For render time in Firefox, try Google Page 4 speed .

EDIT: in Chrome try the new Google Speed Tracer (Chrome 4 and above), this is amazing

Firebug profiler and net tab can be useful. Chrome has similar functionality in its developer tools.

For Internet Explorer, you can use dynaTrace .

I found that Page Speed is a great plugin for Firefox, and dynaTrace is definitely better if IE6 is required.

YSlow will help you with Firebug, and as mentioned earlier, dynaTrace is the best choice for IE.

Can you just dojo.connect to the postCreate method on one of your widgets and get a timestamp?

dojo.connect (dijit.byId ("myCalendar"), "postCreate", function () {console.log (new date () - beginning);});

where is 'start' global declared in the SCRIPT block in HEAD?
