IDE Delphi Line Length

In the Delphi 7 IDE, should strings be a given length? I see a gray line in some Delphi code I'm working with, and it looks like all lines end right in front of it.

This is just a guide to line length. Some people do not like long lines because they are difficult to read by different resolutions or when comparing.

He named the correct stock. It is designed to help you avoid lines that are too long and exceed your coding standards. You can disable it from the editor options, as I did here:

This gray line is called the border.

You can set its visibility and position in the Editor properties on the "Screen" tab in the "Margin" and "Gutter systems" group boxes.

Fields are a visual assistant. The standard position is 80 characters, which by default corresponds to the maximum unencrypted size of many original formatting media, such as used here in Stack Overflow. Initially, this had something to do with paper-wide (dot matrix) printers. Perhaps he is still doing.
