How to install red5 on heroku server

I am trying to create a sound recorder and ask 3 questions:

  • Is red5 enough to create an audio cassette recorder? No need for a tape recorder or something like that?
  • How to install red5 on heroku server?
  • Is there a tutorial for audio recordings in rails?

The simple answer is you cannot.

Heroku platform "as is" - you can only install stones as indicated in your gemfile.

Uff, hard to say, really. 1) Is red5 enough to create an audio recorder? No need for flash recordings or something like that?

Right, with "Red5" you have a streaming server. Then you need a recorder, in flash or another program that uses the RTMP stream protocol. There are several svn examples in Red5 and here

2) How to install red5 on heroku server?

You can try changing the java srcs of the Red5 server (e.g. ANT build to Maven) and loading it onto the Heroku Java Cedar sock stack. I do not have to be impotent to port it.

3) Is there a tutorial for audio recordings in rails?

I do not know. I am currently working on a rail application with the ability to record / play videos using a Red5 server and Red5Recorder. If this works, I can post my experience somewhere :)

Good luck.
