Why doesn't the Spring MVC Project template in the SpringSource Tool Suite work with Tomcat?

When Im creating a Spring MVC Template project in the SpringSource Tool and trying to run on a Tomcat server, I have this error:

WARN : org.springframework.web.servlet.PageNotFound - No mapping found for HTTP request with URI [/test/] in DispatcherServlet with name 'appServlet'.

This is the default value: /test/src/main/java/ru/test/test/HomeController.java

By default, / test / src / main / webapp / WEB -INF / spring / root-context.xml is empty

I was getting the same problem and I solved it. Basically, when a Spring MVC project is created, Eclipse does not by default set src / main / webapp as the source directory. It should probably be the source directory, because then Eclipse will handle the files differently when it creates them.

By right-clicking on the "webapp" folder and clicking on "Build Path → Use as Source Folder", I solved this problem. The other comments here are incorrect: I did not need to change the RequestMapping URL or servlet url. '/' for both worked for my "localhost: 8080 / test / '.

It seems to me that the URL you are trying to click is "/ test /", and web.xml is only "/". You can change this to "/ *" if you want spring to handle all the URLs, and then you also had to change the home controller to "/ test".

Or you can simply click the URL "http: // localhost: 8080 /", which is the root URL that you mapped to the home controller.

After creating your Spring Template MVC Project in Eclipse, you must create it MANUALLY before running it on the server.

Found a solution!

When you start creating a project, you must define it. (pay attention to the third level of superapp ) enter image description here

To get into the application, the URL is http: // localhost: 8080 / superapp

It worked for me
