Android Preliminary Market Publications (Legal) Issues

  • I live in a country outside of Google’s supported countries for selling apps on the Android market. Despite this, I want to sell my applications on the market (PLS does not offer other applications such as amazon). I thought that I get an IP address in America (it is legal, there are many sites selling US IP addresses) and register as if I lived in the USA. Does Google accept this (they shouldn't know that I'm from another country)? What do you think?

  • I also read that I need to register as a business, when do I need a google account? I am a simple person who wants to sell his application. I have no business or firm. I have an active PayPal account, that's all. What should I do?

  • I also read that after creating a trading account and setting up my country, I can’t change it later. But what if I move abroad (I plan)?

  • If I want to create a website for my applications (this is not necessary, right?), Can I use the image of the phone? Or I need to contact, for example. HTC for an image that I can download from my site or Google?

thanks

  • I'm sure Google will find out about this. It may make you forbid, or maybe even worse, I suggest not doing so.

  • You do not need to create a google account. YO DO need to create a Google Checkout account. An account is required to pay a deposit on Google. This account is then linked to your bank account, and every month Google will deposit your income in your bank account. For Google Checkout, look here: https://checkout.google.com/sell

  • I do not know about this, sorry.

  • You can always use the "general phone image" if you want to use the phone image in the "one" mode, but I think that you are allowed to shoot an image that says HTC wants, just point to the bottom of the page that it contains the content made HTC or similar to somethign, and does not claim to be its own. I am not 100% sure about this. I know there is a google branding site here: http://www.android.com/branding.html But it doesn’t say anything about the images on the phone.

  • No, you cannot do this. Google will find this when you credit card details, etc. Therefore, do not try. if you don’t like other application stores, you can try to try third-party application brokers. They will sell the application on your behalf on the Android Market and share revenue with you.
  • No need to have a business. There are hundreds of individuals selling apps on the AppStore, so don't worry about it. You can make your google merchant account if you are from a host country.
  • PayPal also has the same policy. You will need to delete your account and recreate it. I'm not sure if Google checks such a policy.
  • As far as I know, it will not be a big problem, because you do not steal atnything from HTC. But you can just send mail to HTC support and see how they react. In addition, you can use some common Android Phone layouts. If you mean only a screenshot of the application (LCD only), do not worry. You are the one who created it, you can use it as you wish.
