Android SDK and AVD manager get stuck

Run sdk manager as administrator. And please disable any firewall and any virus protection software. I tried everything, but this is the final solution. When all this goes well, I was able to finish downloading sdk for Android.

Make sure that AVD Mananger can write its own directory (for example, start with administrator rights).

I had this problem when I installed the Android SDK in the Program Files folder and could not install new archives because I could not write my own folder to it.

I highly recommend disabling the firewall; it helped me and completely resolve my “stuck”.
