How to hold back / filter more How does this work in Solr?

In Solr, I wonder if it is possible to limit / filter the set of More Similar results from a standard query (for example, without using a specific MoreLikeThis query handler? For example, I have a Solr index that has documents for two countries. When I execute my original (tired) query, I use the field query operator (fq) to filter the results for the country of interest. But the MLT results that are returned are for both countries. I tried to use the country mlt.fl = country name to indicate amb "show me more results, similar across the country and the name," but it seems that it does not meet the criteria of the country (or, at least, the name of the parameter setting far outweigh the country).

I cannot find any Solr documentation that indicates there is an option for this, but I hope one of you, Solr experts, can have some great tricks / hacks for this.

Solr mlt.fl should find Related Documents based on these fields. However, this is not an obligation to do as NOT clause fq. A workaround may be to exclude the country using fq param. So your mlt request could become something like

  /mlt?q=id:ID&fq=-country:COUNTRY&mlt.boost=true

ID: ID of the document for which MLT should be calculated. COUNTRY: country you want to exclude.
