Redis - scaling across different ec2 regions

since I understand that it is technically possible to have a redis cluster with nodes distributed in different areas in the Amazon Cloud (EC2), so I can get the same data in the machines in each region.

But here are 2 questions that I'm not sure:

  • How will this affect redis speed? How the guys measured ( Speed from different regions of EC2 ) - the difference is 4 times. What does this mean for redis?
  • How much would it cost for me? Or, in other words, how much reddis service traffic generates when working in a cluster (for example, one node in both regions)?

I have no practical experience with redis, but it seems that it can be very useful for my purposes.

Many thanks for the help.
