MMC Snapin Error

Question

We recently installed Tridon 2011 SP1. When I try to open snapin SDL Tridion Content Manager, I get an error

MMC failed to create a binding.

Name: SDL Tridion Content Manager CLSID: {5DB34C8F -}

I tried reinstalling the application, but the error persists.

Can someone help me with the same

What OS are you using? 64 bit Most likely you are running a 64-bit mmc. You must run 32-bit mmc with the following command line: mmc -32. You can find out more about mmc 32-bit / 64-bit here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa815172(v=vs.85).aspx .

The problem is that the Tridion snap-in is a 32-bit COM component that cannot be created in a 64-bit process.

If this does not help, can you check the event viewer for a more detailed error message?
