Foursquare - friend registration history?

I need my application to display a list of places my friend recently registered with. For this, I used the checkins endpoint - https://api.foursquare.com/v2/users/USER_ID/checkins . But unfortunately, this does not work properly. It returns recent checks of only the registered user "on their own." I managed to get only one latest version of the selected friend. Well, the “one” checkin just doesn't help, but it brings even more confusion. People think that my application is not working properly and complains! :(

The documentation clearly states that only the self is currently supported. I wonder how soon foursquare will allow us to read at least 5 or 10 recent checks, or is there another way to read more than one check from a selected friend?

I do not want users of my application to think that it is not working properly and removes it: (.

For a list of recent check- ins for friends, use / checkins / recent . In the end, the tab API will contain more checks from active friends, but this API endpoint is now in serious condition, and we are not ready to share it with external developers.

If the respondent is not so urgent, use the / venues / explore endpoint. It is not yet documented, but you can specify "friendVisits = visited" and return only those places where friends of friends were.

I don’t know what you really want to do with these checks, so this is just out of the box ideas :)

  • Use the user's activity (news) feed. This api is not documented. The channel is hardcoded in the main html for the web version. Maybe you should take a look at the mobile version. In any case, if it is not documented, they may not allow access to this data ...

  • Grab the list of user friend icons. They contain one place for an unlocked icon.

  • Explore tips / to-do list (done) / user-created lists / mayors

  • If a “friend” is a user of your application, suggest more checks (I don’t know if he agrees with Foursquare. In this case, you should notify your users that their checks can be displayed to their friends). Foursquare also has a retention policy: https://developer.foursquare.com/overview/community

Foursquare does not have powerful privacy settings like Facebook. Until then, I assume that they will close private registrations of individuals ... I hope that helps
