WebSphere MQ 7.1 Auto Launch

What is the best way to automatically start Websphere MQ v7.1 queue managers during system startup? I see that there is SupportPac for this, I just want to make sure that this is the right option. We have MQ working on 64-bit Linux. Thanks.

Yes, SupportPac MSL1 is correct for Linux.

Some other UNIX flavors may use this SupportPac as is or with modifications. For Windows, specify that QMgr starts automatically and the WMQ service starts it.

Responding to comments from byteborg, I checked and it looks like IBM removed SupportPac MSL1 for some reason, even from the list of revoked SupportPacs.

How this happens, I am in MQTC this week, and many IBMers from Hursley Lab are here, so I will ask you to restore it later or put it on Gitub. If they are able to do this, the internal review process to do this is extensive, so this will not happen in the near future. If this does not work, I will get permission to post it. Stay with us.

In MQTC, Mark Taylor, MQ architect at IBM Hursley Labs, explained the removal of MSL1. Basically, β€œit didn't work,” according to Mark. Instead, IBM provided the guide as an MQDev blog post. Managing Linux Queue Manager Startup and Shutdown with systemd . The post does pretty much what the header says and describes how to use systemd to start / stop MQ. See this post for more details.
