How to check the completed gzip file?

I am writing a function in C that receives .tar.gz data transfer, when I receive data, I have to check if the transfer is complete and the data is valid, so any advice on checking gzip data integrity?

gunzip -t checks the integrity of the compressed file.

If you just load tarball, you can md5sum it on the other end, and then check it.
