How do I display rupee characters in a TextView?

Can someone help me determine how to insert a rupee character in a TextView. I tried using \ u20B9 as suggested in one of the threads, but that did not help.

The Android system font does not support the Rupee symbol. You need to embed it in your own using the built-in font.

try using https://gist.github.com/john1jan/a82912fb355771e565bea1720439c5dc . It prefixes the rupee symbol and adds even a value separated by commas.
