Debugging ipad web application on windows

I have a website that displays correctly on the desktop version, but has a few bugs on the iPad. What is the easiest way to detect problems if my OS is Windows?

Option 1 - Free debugging of local machines

You can use the Safari browser for Windows ( download Safari 5.1.7 ).

Steps

  • Turn on the Development menu in the menu bar (press the Alt key to open the menu bar, then go to the Edit menu> Preferences> Advanced tab). Find this option below.)
  • Then follow through the menu "Development"> "User Agent". Choose iPad, iPhone, etc.

The Development menu (for example, Show Web Inspector) has more options to help debug your site, etc.

Option 2 - Paid, browser access for the target browser / OS / machine

I personally used http://www.browserstack.com/ , and it allows you to test functionality in a wide combination. However, debugging may not be as convenient as on the local machine.

There may be more companies providing similar services.

Beware of basic online emulators

As mentioned in the commentary , be careful with emulator websites. Example: the website I came across claimed to emulate an iPhone with an iPhone image, and iframe was inside it, being obediently represented by the browser, I opened this website in (Firefox).

The best way I can think (depending on your implementation) is to use the firefox plugin https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher/

It allows you to switch to various devices and see how they will be displayed on another device.

Here http://www.ampercent.com/test-website-design-iphone-ipad-mobile-devices/7075/ is a quick start guide.

There are also user agent switches for browsers other than FF, such as Chrome. Do a Google search and see for yourself which one you like.
