Ordering order in the Sharepoint list in the list

In the list, I set the “ID” column and the “Header” column.

I added 10 items to the list, and I'm trying to put the 10th item between 1 and 2. After my research, many people said that I can’t manually change the identification number ... Is there a way to reorder the product? is deleting all elements the only answer?

Please, help!

The ID column is an internal, identical column. You cannot change the value. If you need a column that you can order (and change), just create a new SortOrder column or something else. Then sort by this column.

I know this is an old post, but I thought it could help someone who can find the OOB answer. Go to your list of links so that you see the list of tools, elements and the list at the top. Select items. There’s an icon in the ribbon called “Edit Line item order.” This will allow you to renumber the links in your list and reorder.

You can manually reorder the positions if you create your list based on the definition of the list of links. This list allows you to reorder items as needed using the ribbon button. I often use this workaround.

The ID column is an embedded SharePoint, and you cannot change its value. for your solution, either you need to delete the entire element and insert it again, or as @Nigel Whatling say you have to add SortColumn

Actually, if I understand the question, this is exactly what I tried to accomplish and spent most of my working day.

  • Select List.
  • On the toolbar, select List In List.
  • Click "List Settings."
  • For the columns listed below, see Order Column.
  • Change the "Position on top" number and click "OK" at the bottom.
