Android notification: make ticker text longer

I am working on JellyBean. Ticker text in notifications comes and goes when the notification appears in the status bar. The notification icon remains there (in the status bar) until we clear the notification. Is it possible to save the text of the ticker also in the status bar until the notification is cleared?

No, I'm sorry - a ticker text like Toast is meant to be temporary. After all, there are other things in the status bar that replace the ticker text.
