I just can't figure out how to use segue in my storyboard. When should I use push sega and when is the modal transition? How do they differ from each other?

Push segue

It adds a new VC to the navigationController . if we have a requirement to manage our views in our own way, we must use it. it adds a new view to the navigation stack. Back Button when the popped VC button is pressed from the navigationController .

Modal Segue

A modal segue is just one VC, representing another VC modally. No navigation . The return button does not appear. You must create as cusotmly.

You use push seg if you want to click from one view controller to another when in the context of a navigation controller .

You can use modal seque to represent one view controller on another. This is usually done from the bottom up animation, and then the screen. This can be done internally or not inside the navigation controller.
