Moving WIF 1.0 to WIF 4.5

Question

As far as I can understand, in WIF 1.0, Windows Identity derives directly from IIdentity. In WIF 4.5, Windows Identity comes from ClaimsIdentity, which implements IIdentity.

How will this affect the migration of my WIF 1.0 applications?

Is everything backward compatible or are there any bugs?

Can I use both libraries on my development machine?
