Launching the application at startup: registry entry and startup folder

I want to run the application at startup. I understand a few options. I am most interested in the following options:

  • Registry Approach: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run
  • Copy the shortcut to the startup folder: C: \ Users \ @ username @ \ AppData \ Roaming \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Start Menu \ Programs \ Startup

Is there a difference between the two parameters?

There is no fundamental difference. A folder is usually popular with users, so it’s easy to create a shortcut for them. The registry key tends to be preferred by installers, lower ratios that the user disables the program.

This is not a very big guarantee, there are many utilities that help you edit keys without using Regedit.exe. Including native Windows msconfig.exe file
