As in a smart format from 10,000 to 10,000

Question

firstly i apologize for bad english.

I need to change an integer from 10,000 to 10,000 or 999888777 to 999 888 777 - insert spaces between thousands.

Is there any way how to do this in smarty? I found only the smarty spacify modifier, but this inserts a line between each character.
