How can I import all emails from one gmail account to another with all the original labels?

I have two gmail accounts: the first one that I am currently using is the mail.huji.ac.il account (email of my university) under the gmail domain.

I recently opened a standard gmail account and I want to import all the old gmail mails into a new one.

The problem is that I have many shortcuts in the old account, and I want to keep them in the new one.

How can I do that?

Gmail does not support it. If most of your labels are applied by filters, you can follow these steps to restart the process.

Assume the import account is from A to B.

  • Enable A to forward all messages using POP: settings, forwarding and POP / IMAP, download POP, enable POP for all mail.
  • Export all filters A as a file: Settings, Filters, Select: All, export.
  • Import filter backup file to B: settings, filters, import filters.
  • Enable B to receive letters from A via POP: settings, accounts, check mail from other accounts, add a POP3 email account that you own (add POP information for account A).

This can be done using the Gmail API: receive emails from one account and paste them into another account. There seems to be a command line tool that does this for you, called Got Your Back . The commands will look something like this:

gyb --email youremail@mail.huji.ac.il --local-folder /home/you/gmail-backup gyb --email yournewemail@gmail.com --action restore --local-folder /home/you/gmail-backup
