Do we really need to run a vacuum cleaner in SQL Server 2008 R2?

I am using SQL Server 2008 R2. We used to use PostGreSQL 8.0.2. At that time we will need "Evacuation for PostGreSQL". But now we used SQL Server 2008 R2. Is it really necessary for evacuation? Or is it processed by the server itself?

Most administrators deploy some combination of regular maintenance tasks. SQL Server has a REBUILD command and a REORGANIZE index. A good starting point is Ola Hallengren maintenance scripts .
