Favicon not showing in Internet Explorer

I tried many times to show Favicon on IE, but could not anyone know the solution on this

I had the same problem in IE. In my case, this was because favicon.ico actually had the image type / png, rather than the image / x icon. Even when I created it with icon editors.

After converting a regular png file from http://www.convertico.com/ it worked.

Keep in mind that IE caches this very strict. You may need to restart the browser and / or clear the cache to see it.
