Visual Studio Pro 2012 crashes with missing MissingFieldException immediately after opening the solution

I downloaded some source code from our TFS, and my setup is done through a VPN. I installed the same VS2012 installer on my computer at home and on my machine in the office.

As soon as I open the solution, Visual Studio 2012 will fail. I tried uninstalling, running CCleaner and then installing again, but I still have errors.

We give the following facts:

  • I have administrator rights on this PC.
  • It has other versions of installed by Visual Studio.
  • I have the latest fixes for Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2012.

The crash report says the following:

The solution for me was to download and apply the first update on the official download page.

I had the same issue with VS 2012 Ultimate.

The problem is that at least the ISO download of the three official downloads comes with the same obsolete version as yours, and I got the same exception every time I opened the solution.

He renamed the "ComponentModelCache" folder in the% localappdata% \ microsoft \ visualstudio \ 11.0 \

This solved the problem.
