Automatically send email from an Android application through Exchange Server

Has anyone tried to send emails automatically (without user interaction) from your Android application via the exchange protocol? I have seen many examples through SMTP and they work great. But I wonder if it is possible to send over the Exchange protocol? Does android support its own exchange client?

Are there libraries to use? Or should I build from scratch? If so, can someone point me to a good starting point?

Can anyone give me an edge? Any ideas? any suggestion to start looking at? or something?

Thank you Kartik

Protocol exchange (depending on how the settings are configured) is almost always RPC over HTTP / HTTPS as a mobile user. ActiveSync is an alternative, but has several advantages.

The problem you may encounter is that MS Exchange has client access policies that require the Exchange server to have some control over the phone (mandatory PIN, remote phone wipe, etc., which is probably needs root access). There are also requirements for a certificate of trust.

If you are developing a platform for the home, you may be quicker to look at IMAP, the exchange of which will be quite good.
