List of standard actions for function keys

I am trying to customize some shortcuts for my application. Some of the shortcuts must use function keys.

In particular, users wanted to use F4 for "Process Orders". I discovered (by accident) that F4 will cause a ComboBox to crash. (Leaving my team unfinished.)

Does it make me ask what other buttons do?

  • F1 : Help
  • F2 : Rename
  • F3 :?
  • F4 : ComboBox drop-down list
  • F5 :?
  • F6 :?
  • F7 :?
  • F8 :?
  • F9 :?
  • F10 :?
  • F11 :?
  • F12 :?

Are there standard features or common applications for any other function keys?

This seems like a great place to run because it mentions the F4 command:

Look specifically under the heading: Dialog Box and Common Controls Shortcut Keys

The list of Windows 7 keyboard shortcuts is here . This is a long list, I will annotate the ones you asked for:

  • F1: Help
  • F2: Rename
  • F3: Search
  • F4: display items in active list
  • F5: Update
  • F6: Choose Next
  • F10: Activate Menu
  • F11: Maximize / restore window

Please note that most of them need to be executed only if the corresponding command makes sense. Only F10 is always implemented by default if the program has a menu. Yes, the ComboBox recognizes F4, and not what I worry about too much, when I use this key better, the shortcut is unclear. Your only choice is whether you are using a combobox key. You grab it before the ComboBox sees it, say, ProcessCmdKey ().

Note that Visual Studio does not exactly follow this list.
