Delete files from a Netbeans project, but not from the hard drive

There are many files in my project folder, but I do not want to have all of them in my Netbeans project. Netbeans also scans them automatically, using more memory and time.

Is there a way to exclude files / folders from a Netbeans project.

Solution working with Netbeans 7.3:

  • right-click on your project in the Projects window,
  • Click "Properties"
  • click "Ignored folders" in the left pane called "Categories",
  • Click "Add Folder" and select the folders that you want to ignore.

Do you mean unwanted projects in the drop-down menu or unwanted files in one project? And what specific files do you mean? If this is useless in the project, you can simply delete the file, although if it comes with the project, I will be careful, since most of them are required in the project. If you link to other projects in the project drop-down menu, you can always put the projects that you have finished in another folder.
