Cannot start eclipse due to org.eclipse.core.runtime

Question

I copied some plugins into my eclipse installation (specifically Green and ObjectAid from this).
I deleted them (since this did not work), but now I can not get the eclipse to start (even with eclipse -clean ).
I get:

My config.ini looks fine. I compared it with the downloaded version of Eclipse Helios, and they are the same.

How can i solve this?

I think that you may have deleted some critical folder inside the plugins directory. If I were you, I would compare the just downloaded and extracted contents of the Eclipse installation differently with the one who was having problems.

This error occurs because you deleted the config.ini file while uninstalling the plugins. Therefore, when it cannot find the configuration in config.ini when starting eclipse, it uses the default configuration, which is not suitable for your OS. The following steps will help solve your problem:

• Delete the setting in the configuration folder.
• create a new config.ini file.
• copy the following setting and save.
• restart Eclipse.

These are the settings:

I had the same problem today due to an unexpected shutdown of my computer, and I solved this way:

• find the .eclipse configuration .eclipse (usually in windows C:\Users\{user}\.eclipse\{eclipse version}
• delete this directory
• restart eclipse

So, the configuration directory will be recreated and you must reload your plugins
