It was originally developed as part of the Scalding Matrix API, where Matrices had values that are elements of a Monoid , Group, or Ring . Subsequently, it was clear that the code was more widely used as part of Scalding and other Twitter projects.
What could be this wider application? on Twitter and for the general interest?
