Android: screen activity recording

I plan to record user screen activity to demonstrate the three Android applications that I created.

I think I did good research on the Google and Play Store, and so far the solutions that I saw either required an application that was not free using the Google USB driver (which is not compatible with OSX), or an application that requires root .

I need an application (either installed on an Android device or Mac OSX) that can record screen activity on an Android device that is free, does not require root, and does not require any intermediate hardware to work.

Thanks.

Like Android 4.4, there is a screen recording function available through adb.

http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html#screenrecord

The screenrecord command is a shell utility for recording displays of devices running Android 4.4 (API level 19) and higher. The utility writes screen activity to an MPEG-4 file, which can then be downloaded and used as part of the video presentation. This utility is useful for developers who want to create promotional or educational videos without using a separate recording device.
