Editing iOS Notes via IMAP

I want to create and edit notes created by the iOS Note application programmatically on the server side.

I see notes created by the iOS device in the IMAP folder, but any changes I make will not be displayed on the iOS device.

Is there such an API?

Well, I use the HeaderTools plugin with Thunderbird for this, so this is certainly possible. The note application immediately picks up the changes.
(I am not a very satisfactory solution, since HeaderTools only allows editing as an HTML source in its own viewer / editor)
I think you could run the wiring to find out exactly what is happening. Project theory sounds believable. If I needed to delve into this, I would just try it with python directly, and not search for hours.

I just thought about myself and tried to edit the note using mutt. Since emails (via imap in any case) are not intended for editing (as @CodaFi is correctly indicated), mutt copies the note to the editor, saves it as a new "email address" and deletes the old one. An edited note syncs with Notes.app just fine.

Beware: the title / subject of the note / letter is deduced from the first line of the body.

PS (I do not think this affects the fairness of the above): My setup is a private IMAP server and mbsync with local Maildir and mutt.
