Symfony2 project size is too large when using Composer

First, I downloaded the Symfony2 (Standard Edition) framework from the official site and after installing it, the entire Symfony project had ~ 16 MB . After that, I wanted to start another Symfony2 project using Composer and create-project . After installation, this application had ~ 130 MB !
There is a huge size difference between the two projects.
I suppose I downloaded some additional packages when I used Composer, but the difference in size over 100 MB seems to be a lot.
I checked both projects and they have the same directory structure (i.e. I did not find an additional directory in a larger project).
So why is there such a big difference and what I did wrong to have such a huge project when I used Composer.

Perhaps you have git project clones, in which case the size will be much larger. Try deleting the vendor directory, and then run composer install --prefer-dist to make sure you get only the package files and git information. If that doesn't make any difference, I think it's just the file size.

Another discrepancy may be due to the fact that there are many things removed from the vendor directory on the zip at symfony.com. Tests and documentation of vendors are deprived, while the composer does not.

In any case, these are just files. Drives are pretty cheap. I would not worry too much about it.
