IOS: how to reduce image size for popup

For a universal application for supporting iphones and ipads, there are several permissions, retina or retina, portrait and landscape orientation, so there will be a lot of * .png, this will significantly increase the final size of the application package size.

Is there any good advice on downsizing images?

You can try Imageoptim , which can also optimize png and jpeg images.

Alternatively, you can use .jpg as a splash.

Remember to change the parameter UILaunchImageFile = "splash.jpg" in the UILaunchImageFile = "splash.jpg" file.

I use it in my last application. 700K png - total 180k jpg.

The best way is to use pngcrush . You can use it to try all possible encoding methods and get the smallest files.
