Why do we need .shared.GWT and .client.GWT?

Since Javadoc does not explain the reasons for com.google.gwt.core. a generic .GWT that appears to contain a functional subset of com.google.gwt.core. .GWT client , what is the reason for the former to exist?

As its name implies, shared.GWT can be used on the server side. GWT.create() does not yet support much, but will soon support I18N and its plug-in.
