It depends on your server definition, which I assume. For example, in a P2P game, most players will connect to a central point, select and interact with each other without a server.
This means that the server does not need to post any data that it just needs to coordinate with those who do it. It does not allow resources (since each client needs to connect only once), and the infrastructure is often more reliable.
