Google Drive can be accessed on Chromebook through Crouton.

I am using a Samsung Chromebook with the Crouton chroot environment ( https://github.com/dnschneid/crouton ). It changed my mind about how practical a Chromebook can be for working with developers. I like it.

But now I want to synchronize files between different computers and laptops. Using git is certainly an option, but that requires manually checking my work. What if I forget? Lately, I'm spoiled by using Dropbox or Google Drive to automatically save my files. Now the problem with Crouton on my Chromebook is that I see an obvious way to sync a project folder using Google Drive. I believe Drive will become an easier route from the moment the product leaves Google. But if Dropbox can be made to work, it will be awesome too.

Has anyone looked into this and found a workable solution?

Although I have not tried to make it work yet, this project allows you to connect Google Drive to your Linux file system: https://github.com/dsoprea/GDriveFS

You can access the locally synchronized Drive folder (used by the rest of ChromeOS) from chroot in this directory:

/ var / host / media / fuse / drivefs- [unique identifier] / root /

Please note that the unique identifier is different on each computer (or perhaps in every Google account?) - you will need to find it yourself.

This can also be obtained from the ChromeOS shell here:

/ media / fuse / drivefs- [unique identifier] / root /
