How to make my wireless interface appear on VMware player for backtrack5?

I searched the Internet all morning and it’s frustrating.

I installed the VMware player and backtrack5 and got everything ready for work.

I decided to make a project for hacking a WPA2 network using reaver, as shown here.

http://lifehacker.com/5873407/how-to-crack-a-wi+fi-networks-wpa-password-with-reaver

this person did not use a wireless adapter, nor did I. Therefore, I am sure that this is not necessary.

I have a wireless router and laptop (Pavillion g7) with Wi-Fi turned on and everything is going correctly.

the guest OS for the virtual machine is Linux, and my main OS is win7.

I run the "iwconfig" code on the terminal, but only l0 and eth0 are displayed, not the one I need (wlan0), as well as the wireless interface board needed for the whole hacking process.

Now, if anyone can tell me how I can get VMplayer to connect to a wireless network or at least detect it so that I can detect and get information about the wireless interface, that would be so appreciated ...

My wireless adapter for a laptop, by the way, is the Atheros Ar9485. Please help me with this, the project should be a group, but I'm solo, because there are not enough students in the class.

So any help will bring me many benefits, thanks.

A little late, but this: VMware cannot flash your built-in WiFi card into its internal operating system (Backtrack in this case).
You will need to connect the USB USB adapter to your laptop; VMware can connect it to Backtrack just fine.

In the tutorial to which you are attached, the author is loaded from a live DVD, and not from inside VMware, therefore Bakctrack functions as a normal operating system with access to all its ports.

There is a problem with VMware drivers that recognize this as a wireless interface. When using a wireless USB card, it will appear as an 802.3 connection, and you will not see wlan0 when you enter the iwconfig command.

If you had wlan0 (wireless) connection before and now it is not displayed, you need to restore the network settings to default. This can help.
